Van Gogh-Inspired
Wedding
Hui & March November 17, 2019

We absolutely adore Van Gogh and his artistry bring magic into the wedding world!
With the love of sunflowers, our bride asked for an interpretation of Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflower and Starry Night paintings. Van Gogh is undoubtedly one of the most well-known painters in the world. A pioneer of modernism, this innovator and master of colour’s impressive oeuvre continues to inspire many artists today. Although Van Gogh’s difficulties with mental and emotional issues are well known and documented. We wanted to celebrate the sheer exuberance and lust for life that manifests in many of his paintings, the rich ochre yellows and vibrant blues lighting up space around them.

Sunflowers had a special significance for Van Gogh. He made seven versions of them. Yellow, for him, was an emblem of happiness - in Dutch literature, the sunflower was a symbol of devotion and loyalty. We made the reception and looking glasshouse to reminisce The Sunflowers as it represents the couple’s love and character. This zone is filled with some Van Gogh’s paintings and our couple’s pre-wedding photos. We personalized and customized the “find your seats” cards to be stars, sunflowers and moon shapes. The moment guests step into the venue they will immediately know that it is our bride and groom’s wedding.

The groom’s side lead the Chinese Khan-Maak’s parade to the Looking Glasshouse. After the groom picked up the bride, the bride’s parents will count all of the dowries at the Wonder Room. Afterwards, the bride’s mother will hold the dowry on her shoulder and pretend to be like it’s extremely heavy because it has a lot of money inside. When the best time comes, the groom and bride will exchange their engagement rings in front of their close friends and families.

While our Luna Hall has been turned into Van Gogh’s Starry Night painting written in the stars. A more positive interpretation of the painting as something bold and loving.

The texture and tone theme are all in different hues of blues, including midnight blue, navy, teal and cerulean. The table housed clever groupings of gorgeous yellow flowers. Menus were created beautiful deep blue navy stationary which featured a specially created monogram and the most elegant calligraphy in gold. The menus were placed with guest's names in the moon, sunflower, sun shapes card on top of mustard yellow plates.

The turquoise vases were filled with sunflowers while the backdrop incorporated the colour scheme of Starry Night and the shape of Sunflowers. These colours dominate many of his best-beloved paintings, his organic texture is also seen in the wedding cake, where the thick yellow and the blue cream frosting has been spread to create prominent lines. The cake station is also topped with varieties of savoury desserts for guests to enjoy.

The Wedding was totally artistic and unique, It was eye candy for every guest. The details of the wedding popped with colours from the fresh sunflowers and a rich colour palette of navy and yellow. Also, the gorgeous bouquet and the drink station ate carefully selected to match the theme.
